On January 11th, around 7pm EST, Tyren announced the Closed Beta Finale event. Master Desan, Draiken and I took screenshots and video to bring you coverage. Major cities like Orgrimmar, Stormwind, Ironforge, Exodar, Shattrath City to name a few were hit by Tyren, Ordinn, Tseric and other Blizzard employees with waves of Infernals, Dreadlords, clones of Lord Kazaak and Doom Lord Kazaak. Kruul the doomguard, Fel Reavers, and other demons. Even Azuregos hit Orgrimmar. Tseric swept Shattrath City with World dragons: Emeriss, Letheon and others. GMs crushed lowbie players with world bosses at Lakeshire, Crossroads, Barrens, and minor villages. The invasion on cities included heroes such as Tyrande Whisperwind, King Magni and Archdruid Fandrall in Undercity and Orgrimmar outdoors and Horde heroes invading Alliance cities.
Blizzard spawned waves of mobs such as Murlocs, Phase Hatchlings, Fire Elementals, Southsea Pirates, Core Hounds, Crimson Battle-Mages, Rexxar mounting a wyvern leading an invasion of Ogres, Archaedas and Archbishop Benedictus. Black whelps, Onyxia Warden dragonkin. A GM joined the invasion as a huge female gnome named Pinkadelic who polymorphed the heck out of everyone into sheeps. GM High Warlord Kaellarina (Female Blood elf Warlock) started a dance party along with over a dozen of bear druids. The same GM transformed into a Giant Giraffe and started polymorphing everyone into worms, giraffes, cows, sheeps and tossed fans 50 feet above the ground to let them fall slowly with no harm. It was fun. Fans asked for a strip tease, and to our shock clothes went off staying in underwear. Everyone was cheering, distracted and overconfident, when suddenly, many Crimson Hand Battle-Mages spawned around us and ambushed us, pwning everyone with Blizzard AOE - a rain of ice pouring from the sky.
Around 1am in the morning the Beta Finale event was still on. The GM asked us to head to Stormwind to raid it. She started to swim through the air to the top of the Zeppelin tower and awaited the Zeppelin with us.
At 1:40am EST, GM Kaellarina and Pinkadelic dueled. Kaellarina wielding Corrupted Ashbringer and Pinkodelic wielding the Ashbringer. Pinkadelic showed some hacking abilities when she jumped into the air landing atop the Goldshire Inn building's roof. She jumped nearly 50 feet high to land across the street atop the Blacksmith shop's roof -- jaw-dropping everyone present.
GM Kaellarina yelled: I CALL UPON THE POWER OF ALL THOSE AROUND ME ... FOCUS FIRE ON THE GNOME ... NOW! The Corrupted Ashbringer shoot a ranged fire bolt with her sword, killing Pinkadelic.
When we arrived to Stormwind it was devastated and on fire, taken by demons of the Burning Legion. The GM Kaellarina opened a breach through, killing all opposition; and headed toward the Cathedral of Light. There the Horde was crushed by the Alliance who had already been awaiting -- no doubt alerted by GM Pinkadelic to ambush the unsuspecting Horde. It didn't help that Horde players had to run to their corpse from too far. The Graveyard everyone was sent to was all the way to the east of Elwynn Forest -- at the Eastvale Logging Camp, just to be corpse camped by the Alliance upon resurrection.
GM Kaellarina asked everyone to return to Orgrimmar for a fireworks show. Afterwards, Pinkadelic and the Alliance paid a visit to Orgrimmar attempting to kill Thrall. Kaellarina used her hacking skills to despawn Thrall. After some PvP, everyone returned to the frontyard of Orgrimmar to welcome more waves of GM-spawned mobs. Some of the spawns were direct petitions. The GM kindly asked often what everyone wished them to spawn to hurl at them. Back on November 2004, during the first closed beta of the classic World of Warcraft, Ragnaros was the last boss in the Beta Finale event. Back then Molten Core and its last boss Ragnaros were the high-end dungeon at launch and no one knew how Ragnaros looked like.
Back on 2004, fans were surprised to see the firelord boss unveiled -- so big he could be seen from very far away. On Burning Crusade's Closed Beta finale, everyone expected to see Kael'Thas, Lady Vashj and Illidan to be spawned by the developers, but it didn't happen. Fans had fun nevertheless through the nine hours the event lasted. Below are links to video footage of the Closed Beta finale event and over 200 screenshots.
