The Diablo III Facebook reached 711,000 “Likes” and it’s getting more and more every hour. The community is really digging the challenge with excitement, and the reward of a screenshot and concept art each 25,000 Likes.
The PvP Screenshot and the Tomb Viper Concept Art are the new rewards for the community effort of bringing the Diablo III Facebook to the 700,000 Likes milestone. This happens coincidentally with the announcement of a Diablo II: Lord of Destruction Ladder Reset this upcoming March 28, 2011.
The PvP screenshot shows a witch doctor which has failed to keep a barbarian player at a distance, and with no pets and the use of unknown escape skills, the witch doctor may pay the price. The concept art of this round is the “Tomb Viper” by Brom. You can View Hi-Res 1950 x 2,303 by holding the right-button and choosing “Open in New Tab”).
Now that’s interesting. Claw Vipers, and Salamanders appear in Act II at the Claw Viper Temple. Serpent Magus shows up in Act III at the Forgotten Temple and other areas. Other types of Viper humanoids appear in Act V. However, the interesting part is that a Tomb Viper in specific, these show up in Act V at the Halls of Vaught — within Nihlathak’s Temple.
The Nihlathak’s Temple is near Harrogath, the ancestral land of the Barbarians. Harrogath is found near the peak of Mt. Arreat. Bashiok reported in October 9th, 2009 that Harrogath and Mt. Arreat are now known as Arreat Crater. Don’t forget to click “Like” for this image in facebook.
A few questions to ponder:
- Are these Tomb Vipers from Arreat Crater or from somewhere else? They were guest monsters at Nihlathak’s Temple after all. Otherwise, where are they from? Where in Diablo III will we find them?
- The Skeleton King is back, so … could Nihlathak be back as some sort of risen undead/demon?
- Will we revisit the Valley of Snakes near the Lost City in Act II? This is where we go for The Tainted Sun quest in order to complete the Horadric Staff — made by combining the Horadric Amulet and the Staff of Kings to create the key to Tal Rasha’s Tomb.
Hmm … fascinating thoughts.
