At one of the launch parties of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, Itzik Ben Bassat – VP of Business Development – was there. He said the following to Pro-G:
“I’m a StarCraft player myself and I hope it’s not a decade, and we launched StarCraft in 1998, before I’m standing here again, celebrating the next game in the series,” stated Bassat while on stage.
Could he be hinting at a new Starcraft game in 2008? Atleast it’s good news that there will be a new game in 2008
Eurogamer also has further quotes of what Bassat said concerning the Starcraft and Diablo franchises. Nearly a year ago, Gamespy revealed that Dustin Browder had joined Blizzard Entertainment on March 14, 2005. Dustin Browder is known for his work in Red Alert, Middle Earth RTS, Command & Conqer: Generals, Battlezone and Mechwarrior 2—to name a few. Ever since our own conclusion has been that Starcraft 2 was in the works. Even Paul Sams – Vice-president of Business Operations – had hinted a Starcraft 2 announcement at some point when out of nowhere he highlighted his love for Starcraft, just limiting to say there would be major announcement in 2007 of a unannounced project.
