For those skeptic that World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade wouldn’t ship on January 16th, or that it would be delayed, worry no more. World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade has gone Gold! It is ready for max production to meet the released date. The crude, unofficial news leaked when Wow players discussed rumors on the official community forums with a thread titled: The Burning Crusade to be delayed again. Two Blizzard Community Managers: Tseric and Nethaera stepped in with damage control stick – as the topic pretty much would set fans into a panic spree. Now that the cat is out of the bag, a press release should be expected very soon. Thanks, MVP Schwick for the buzz. Read More:
QUOTE:
Got any links to these “reports” that “are coming in all over”?Tseric: Yeah. That’d be great. Y’know, having some evidence for the rumor being perpetuated. Call me a skeptic…
QUOTE:
It’s just an industry way to make your stuff sound like it’s selling like hotcakes before it ever actually does.Tseric: Stop digging that hole, mate. The expansion has already gone gold. We see no reason why the game isn’t going to be on the shelves at the planned date.
January 16th, in case you forgot.
A gold release is actually a single master disc which has to be transported to the distributors, from which all other discs are copied. This disc is conventionally gold in color. Hence, going gold. At least, that is the way I’ve heard it.
It’s got nothing to do with marketing at all.
QUOTE:
Why anyone pays attention to it is beyond me anyways. It’s a wholly worthless statistic.Tyren: It’s not a statistic. It is an actual gold disc. It signifies a major milestone in a games development, which is why people tend to pay attention to it.
